Style Inspiration: Looking Ever Lush in Blush

Pastel colours are not new on the fashion scene as they are the quintessential to brighten any mood during Spring time. But, here in the Caribbean, the weather is always favourable, especially for this colour palette. One pastel colour that has caught the attention of designers, stylists and celebs this year is blush pink. The celebs have hopped onto this trend and are showing us the right way to style these pieces.

Jada Pinkett wore a blush pink Versace gown  to the 2014 Oscars. This blush pink gown complemented Jada's skin tone and its form fitting structure accentuated her body line

Kim Kardashian styled her blush pink Kardashian Kollection cropped turtleneck from the 2014 Kardashian Kollection with a similar colored Azzedine Alaia Dress and balanced it out with Azzedine Alaia Nude Circle Sandals

Rihanna wore a blush pink Christian Dior dress with a ruffled hem along with Dior Resort 2014 Heels and finished the look with a Lady Dior Handbag and Dior jewelry, to the Dior Cruise 2015 Fashion Show in New York

I took some time to get some pieces that I thought would give you some ideas as to how to style your blush accessories that you might have or would like to add to your wardrobe.

Beauty Product Review- It's that Simple!

There I was in the beauty product aisle of M&C Drugstore and like many other consumers, I was facing a dilemma- finding  a good moisturiser for oily, acne prone skin that would not cause more irritation and breakouts. Like every other woman who lives in the Tropics, I also wanted to find a moisturiser that wouldn't make my skin oilier. Well, after careful scanning, I came across Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturizer, which I felt addressed all my reservations as well as my problem areas.

This light moisturiser:
1) Absorbs excess oil and mattifies skin with Zinc PCA- great for my oily skin
2) Contains no perfume or colour which could irritate my acne prone skin
3) Has Vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B5 to moisturise, soften and smooth which balances the Zinc PCA which means it won't dry out my skin

Within the first week of using it, I clearly felt and saw the difference in my skin. My skin was soft and smooth-something that I felt was not possible with my oily skin. As the day progressed, I still had that matte finish despite light oiliness to my forehead. But compared to other products that I have used my face was not as oily. I have continued using this product and am looking forward to trying the Vital Vitamin Night Cream for that extra hydration at night.

Style Inspiration- Adorn Your Crown

Floral Headbands certainly are not new on the fashion scene as a must-have accessory. Now, thinking of it, floral headbands may conjure a totally  different image for most persons. These images may be those of Hawaiian Hula girls with their straw skirts , bikini top and floral headband, constructed from their indigenous flora that cover a multitude of exotic colours.
On the contrary, floral headbands do not belong exclusively to the people of Hawaii. Many celebs and fashionistas alike have made the trend their own and incorporated it, in their outfits, whether formal or casual.

Victoria's Secret Model Alessandra Ambrosio donned a floral headband, as did the other invited guests, to the Christian Louboutin Launch of the Passage Handbag Collection

James Black, Jamaican Fashion Designer shows a casual contrast to Alessandra's ensemble. She paired her handmade headband from her GlamHead line with a simple white dress for a a more laid back feel.

Photo
Jamaican Model, Gabrielle Davis, strutted her stuff at last year's Caribbean Fashion Week's Emerging Designers Showcase in a YC floral peplum swimsuit from the Desert Swim Collection and a floral headband from the GlamHead line

Actress Vanessa Hudgens, donned a floral headband with her casual yet chic look at this year's Coachella Festival

YC Model proves that a floral headband need not consist of flowers but can be floral petals or embellishments that form a floral pattern

Below, I have listed some sites that offer a plethora of floral headbands for any style. Check them out: www.asos.com and www.polyvore.com.

Fashionistas Read Too: How Could You Possibly Be In Your Own Way?

I stumbled upon this book by pure chance I suppose, upon a search on Amazon. I had seen Tyrese on the Wendy William’s show talking about the book about a year earlier but for some reason, I hesitated to purchase it, as I had wrongly concluded that it was solely providing relationship advice. However, this time, after reading a thorough description of the book on the webpage, I was intrigued and was curious to see if it could be of any assistance to me. The chapters unfold as follows:

Chapter 1: Childhood
Chapter 2: How Much Do You Love Yourself?
Chapter 3: Are You the Master of Your Environment?
Chapter 4: Who Are Your Five People?
Chapter 5: Why Do Men (and Some Women) Cheat?
Chapter 6: Do I Love You More Than I Know You?
Chapter 7: What is Your Purpose?
Chapter 8: Are You Ready For the Next Level?

Tyrese relates the struggles he faced as a young boy growing up in an abusive household and rough neighborhood in Watts, South Central Los Angeles. With the hope of eventually having a better life, Tyrese harnessed his love for singing which led him to his first big break in a national Coke commercial. Using this platform, he took his career to new heights, thus creating that better life that he always wished for.
As we delve deeper into its pages, Tyrese admonishes the reader to perform some introspection by:

1.       recognizing a negative mind and spirit
2.       understanding that we are truly the master of our environment
3.        discerning whether the people that we allow into our lives as our close circle of friends or associates are helping us or bringing us down
4.        realizing that in a relationship we  cannot blame ourselves for our mate’s unfaithfulness
5.        being realistic in our expectations of others especially in an intimate relationship.

In doing so, we set the stage for us to cultivate true love for ourselves and to ultimately find our purpose or exactly what we want from our lives and eventually seeing it through.
This book was truly inspirational and provided many opportunities for self-reflection in my pursuit to reach my true potential.

Fashion Profiles: To the Beaches of Nigeria!!!

The Editor in Chief of Eclectic Yet Chic would like to interrupt your reading to bring you this announcement.
"I would like to inform you, my loyal readers, that after you have viewed the following swimsuits you will never, I repeat, you will never, want to wear mediocre swimwear ever again."
You may now proceed to viewing these mind blowingly gorgeous swimsuits that has many women hitting the gym religiously and carefully monitoring their diet in order to fit into one of them.

Andrea Iyamah Swimwear Collection 2014

Were you blown away? A smart guess would reveal that you most probably were.
With eye catching geometric cuts, a few psychedelic prints, clever combinations of darks and pastels and solid jazzy colours in both her 2014 collection shown above, as well as her 2013 collection below, Andrea Iyamah Swimwear is definitely a lust worthy creation for the beach babe who wants to make a statement.

Andrea's 2013 collection got the approval of Fashion Designer and Host of BET's 106 and Park, Angela Simmons, with her donning three of the looks from the collection- two of them while on vacation in the beautiful Caribbean Island of Anguilla and one while on the beaches of Miami.

A different approach was taken with the first collection which was launched in 2012. The line captured a more vintage feel and exuded the groovy 70's with its prints and colours and the campaign photos helped to capture this in its entirety.

After viewing all of these carefully constructed works of art that we call swimsuits , the lingering question is, Who exactly is Andrea Iyamah?

Fashion Profiles: Fashion Meets Dancehall

From its emergence, Dancehall music has had this symbiotic relationship with fashion. Dancehall Artistes' expression of their personal taste in fashion is noticeable in their videos and as a result help to convey the sentiments embodied in their music. Conversely, some designers have found inspiration to create new collections based  off of the personal styles of Dancehall Artistes and their dancers.
In recent times, this relationship is becoming more evident, with Dancehall Artiste and CEO of Subkonshus Music Productions, Konshens, along with two other partners, launching a shoe line in September of 2013, appropriately named KONZ876. The name is a combination of Konshens' nickname, Konz and Jamaica's area code 876.

Konshens surrounded by all of the looks from the debut collection of his shoe line KONZ876

The launch party was held at Quad Night Club in Kingston, Jamaica and saw the likes of other Artistes such as Ce'Cile, Christopher Martin, Tarrus Riley, Masicka, Ishawna and Dj's Creep Chromatic, Marc Coppershot Chin and Copper Cutty and Olympic Gold Medalist Usain Bolt coming out to support the young Artiste in his new venture. Additionally, the attendees purchased a pair of sneakers of their own from the display of all the different looks from the shoe line that greeted them as they entered the venue.

All those who came to support were first greeted by one of the KONZ876 promo girls and a display of all the looks from the debut of the shoe line

The shoe line is accessible to everyone whether it be through the flagship store in Kingston, Jamaica, on their website www.konz876.com and at other selected retail shoe stores.

As the "face" of the shoe line, Konshens debuted a new collection in the shoe line's new ad that was premiered this March.

This young Artiste clearly shows his versatility and vision through his roles as CEO of Subkonshus Music Productions and more recently KONZ876. With that said, there can only be continued success for Konshens and his partners.

As usual I leave you with something to cap off your reading. The video below "Simple Song" is one of my favorite from Konshens. Tell me if you can identify his love interest in the video. (Hint: I wrote a post about her recently) The duo represent a Dancehall Artiste who is influencing fashion and a Designer who was inspired by Dancehall music to create her latest collection. Enjoy!
